“It does not require
years of study to be hypnotized, for this…is
a natural endowment possessed by practically everyone
and capable of being developed by all who will devote…the
patience and energy always so necessary for the
development of natural talents."

What comes to mind when you think of childbirth? The
power of creation? Harmony with nature? Joy? Or do you
think of pain, trauma, fear, and crisis?
For too many mothers-to-be, negative associations—in
particular, fears, anxieties and pain—overshadow
the wonder and happiness of childbirth. Childbirth Hypnosis
Training (CHT) releases this “fear-tension-pain”
syndrome (which can lead to added complications and
pain) and frees you to have a joyful, relaxing and stress-free
birth.
Through hypnosis training, you will be able to dispel
fears and call upon your own endorphin response as a
natural anesthesia, reducing your pain and allowing
you to fully experience the joy of your child's birth.
Childbirth hypnosis training uses deep relaxation and
guided imagery techniques to prepare you for a more
comfortable pregnancy and safer way to give birth. It
focuses on your perception of the birth experience and
how you will respond to it.
With hypnosis training, you will learn how to associate
the birth experience with pleasure rather than pain,
and you will come to realize that there is no need for
pain once your mind is no longer making that interpretation
of the experience. The ultimate goal is to completely
and fully experience the birth of your child in a positive
and comfortable way, rather than to try to "get
away" from it or even miss the experience through
numbing fear or chemical painkillers.
When you are prepared for childbirth through hypnosis
training, your mind and body are in harmony with your
natural birthing instincts. You learn to trust your
body and work with it so that you can approach childbirth
with an attitude of surrender, relaxation, and peacefulness.
Childbirth hypnosis training gives you a heightened
state of awareness and a strong sense of your inner
strength, so you are more in control during the birth—and
able to welcome your child into the world in a loving,
relaxing, and nurturing way.
The birth experience will never be the same for
any two women, and neither will the experience of hypnosis
training. Unlike other programs that are taught by a
network of minimally trained facilitators to groups
in a class setting, Childbirth Hypnosis Training is
taught for the last 20 years exclusively by Marie-Paul
Baxiu, a Clinical Certified
Hypnotherapist for the last 21 years (See
Talking with Marie-Paul), a Childbirth Hypnosis
Instructor, an Independent Childbirth Educator. (C.C.H., C.H.I., I.C.E.), Birth Coach certified in Neo-natal Resuscitation, and
YogaCise Pre-Posnatal Instructor, for the past 5 years. Marie-Paul has been
trained with Birthlight in Cambridge, England by Francoise Freedman; a Yoga
Teacher/Instructor, Midwife and an anthropologist teaching
anthropology in Cambridge University.
Each hypnosis training session is
done individually, and is highly personalized to the
unique needs and concerns of each mother. Mothers-to-be
generally see Marie-Paul for about five 1 ½ to
2 hours sessions prior to birth. Sessions are held in
her Los Angeles office. She can also be hired to provide
labor support during the birth—a service that
is highly recommended for hospital births (see
professionals testimonials) —and for continuing
sessions after the child is born. Childbirth hypnosis
can be used in conjunction with other childbirth preparation
training methods.
Marie-Paul's work is also unique
in that it is centered on the mother (mind-body connection at the time of the birth) rather than the
couple. Husbands are able to choose their level of involvement
-they can be present through the all program, and are
often guided during at least two of the sessions so
that they know what to expect and how to assist. Fathers benefit from a strong bond right at the birth as well. Dads are given tools to create mammal bonding which is equivalent to Mom's breastfeeding. Communication with baby is also explored in every dimension (womb, and at the birth) to insure no trauma to the baby.
The Childbirth Hypnosis Training will assist you in
parenting your baby before is born. You will learn to
be partnering with your baby in the womb: your unborn
child responds to you; the mother's deepest thoughts and
feelings. By using hypnosis (a deep state of relaxation),
you will offer the best environment for your baby’s
growth. You will have the ability to create a better
womb environment for your baby as he/she shapes its brain
and lays the foundations for personality, emotional
temperament, and the powers of higher thought. By preparing
for a gentle birth, you will allow your baby to unfold
within his/her inner intelligence and experience his/her own
power. You will be giving your unborn child an experience of trust
and love that will shape his/her entire life.
Take the time to prepare yourself
and enjoy the journey of parenting by giving yourself
and your baby the very best right from the beginning.
